Jordan Kerr claims he was unlawfully detained by casino security at Horseshoe Baltimore during a blackjack game in October 2024.

Kerr alleges that he was threatened with arrest and handcuffs if he did not comply with the security personnel’s demands to go to the back room.

Kerr, an advantage player, complained of a violation of his rights and seeks damages for false imprisonment and battery.

Unlawful Detention Claim

Card counting is legal, but casinos often ban players suspected of using this strategy to gain advantage. Kerr was detained after a gambling session at Horseshoe Baltimore.

Kerr reports being confined for 15 minutes before being released with no police intervention.

Kerr claims his liberty was infringed upon by Horseshoe casino and its personnel, causing emotional distress and other damages.

Kerr is seeking $3 million in damages for false imprisonment and battery.

Horseshoe Seeks Dismissal

This is not the first time Kerr has sued a casino for false imprisonment. Attorneys for Horseshoe Baltimore argue against punitive damages in this case.
