Illusionist Criss Angel assisted in the removal of a fan from his “Mindfreak” show in Las Vegas on December 29. The fan claims that Angel assaulted him, according to an arrest report.

Branden McDonald, 31, was arrested for allegedly punching a security guard. The incident occurred when security noticed McDonald using his phone during the performance, which is prohibited. McDonald did not respond to security’s requests to stop and allegedly became aggressive when Angel returned to the theater.

McDonald’s attorney alleged that before the police arrived, Angel threatened to choke his client and proceeded to do so. McDonald’s attorney stated that McDonald suffered a sore throat from the alleged aggression and a head injury from being tackled by security.

According to the attorney, McDonald punched no one and was “texting his ailing mother” when the security guard approached and attacked him. McDonald was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a count of misdemeanor battery with a hearing set for March 5 in Regional Justice Court.
