  • David Copperfield’s 25-year residency concludes on April 30, 2026.
  • This announcement follows the release of DOJ documents connecting him to Epstein on January 30, 2026.
  • Copperfield is hinting at a “dazzling” new endeavor for his next performance.

After an impressive tenure exceeding 25 years at the MGM Grand, David Copperfield is set to wrap up his residency. His final show will be held on April 30, 2026. An official statement from both MGM Resorts and Copperfield, released Thursday night, emphasized that the magician is opting to end this lucrative partnership.

“We extend our gratitude to David and his outstanding team for the incredible experience they’ve consistently provided with this larger-than-life spectacle,” stated Mike Neubecker, President & COO of MGM Grand, in the press release. “For over 25 years, David has captivated audiences at MGM Grand, and we wish him success as he embarks on this new chapter in his career.”

Though the details of his next venture remain under wraps, Copperfield took to X to reiterate that the decision to leave was entirely his own—even though the unexpected announcement prompted automatic refunds for tickets bought after the April 30 cutoff.

“I’m thrilled to share what comes next shortly thereafter,” Copperfield’s statement expressed. “It’s the most ambitious project I’ve undertaken and also the most challenging.” He mentioned that he aims for the upcoming project to be “truly magnificent.”

This was not, in formal language, a case of MGM Resorts ending the partnership due to scrutiny surrounding Copperfield’s past. However, the timing of this separation—only five weeks post the Department of Justice’s release of extensive internal documents on January 30, 2026—creates an undeniable connection.

Among these documents was a 2007 FBI memo alleging a “very close association” between Copperfield and Jeffrey Epstein—an assertion that Copperfield’s legal representation has steadfastly denied.

Copperfield has not faced any criminal charges and rejects any wrongdoing concerning the infamous child molester. His attorneys have repeatedly asserted that he and Epstein were merely “acquaintances at best.”
