MGM Resorts announces a $107 million investment to renovate over 2,000 guestrooms and suites in the original hotel tower of Borgata.
Borgata, the leading property in Atlantic City for over a decade, receives a $107 million upgrade from MGM to enhance the guest experience at Borgata Tower.
President and Chief Operating Officer Nik Rytterstrom expressed, “As one of the most important touchpoints within the resort, this reinvestment gives us the opportunity to thoughtfully evolve the Borgata Tower for today’s guests, with a design that stays true to the sophistication and energy of the property, while introducing a fresh and elevated sense of comfort that still feels distinctly Borgata.”
Borgata, a venture between MGM and Boyd Gaming, opened on July 2, 2003, and MGM acquired Boyd’s 50% stake in 2016 for $900 million.
Borgata Renovation
The 43-story Borgata Tower will undergo a comprehensive renovation that includes updates to the main lobby, corridors, and elevators. The project is led by Avenue Interior Design, known for its collaboration with Borgata.
Ashley Justman, co-founder of Avenue Interior Design, stated that the Italian-inspired look of Borgata Tower will feature warm wood, blue, and metallic tones and accents.
“It was important to us that the design feel evolved and sophisticated without losing the glamour, confidence, and energy that are so intrinsic to Borgata,” said Justman.
In addition to Borgata, Avenue Interior Design has worked with Station Casinos, Palms Las Vegas, and Yaamava’ Resort Casino.
The $107 million renovations are scheduled for completion by late 2027, with rooms opening floor by floor.
Following the 2023 rebranding of the Water Club to the MGM Tower, MGM has continuously updated its casino floor, restaurants, bars, and amenities.
Atlantic City Leader
Borgata remains the most profitable casino in Atlantic City, with a gross operating profit of $237.4 million in 2025, significantly ahead of its closest competitor, Hard Rock.
Despite a 5% year-over-year decrease in profits during the first half of 2026, Borgata retains its market lead in Atlantic City, outperforming competitors.
As of June 30, 2026, Borgata boasts 2,727 guestrooms, over 2,500 slot machines, various table games, a BetMGM Sportsbook, poker room, and Atlantic City’s largest dedicated Asian gaming space.
