The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has mandated that six unlicensed online casinos cease their operations aimed at Michigan residents immediately. The identified sites include Fortune Horizon Casino, Goat Spins Casino, High Roller Casino, Slots.lv, True Fortune Casino, and Vegas Gems Casino.

“These platforms lure unsuspecting players with attractive advertising and the potential for huge payouts, but the actual risks are significant: lacking oversight, consumer protections, and no assurance of retrieving your funds,” stated Henry Williams, Executive Director of the MGCB. “Michigan law is unequivocal—any operation within our borders must possess a valid license.”

In Michigan, internet gaming and sports betting are exclusively permitted through licensed entities under the supervision of the MGCB. Unlicensed websites infringe on state regulations, including the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and sections of the Michigan Penal Code.

In contrast to authorized platforms, illegal operators are not obliged to adhere to independent testing, responsible gaming protocols, or consumer protection measures, the agency cautions. All specified operators are required to immediately halt their marketing to Michigan residents. Failure to comply could result in legal repercussions from the Michigan Department of Attorney General.

The MGCB’s “Play It Smart, Michigan” initiative provides essential resources to assist players in identifying legitimate gaming sites versus unregulated offshore operations. The agency offers a “Legal vs. Illegal Gaming” webpage, which features a comprehensive list of approved internet gaming and sports betting operators, guidance on spotting counterfeit advertisements and unlicensed platforms, along with informative graphics and videos disseminated via the MGCB’s social media platforms, including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram.

“Illegal operators frequently imitate well-known names or logos to deceive users,” Williams remarked. “We aim to empower Michiganders with the knowledge to safeguard themselves and to point them towards verified, secure forms of entertainment.”
