The Showboat in Atlantic City has made adjustments to the operating hours of its Island Waterpark, which opened earlier this year. The change comes as part of the owner’s efforts to make the resort more family-friendly.
Under the new schedule, the Island Waterpark is closed on Tuesdays through Thursdays. The resort owner, Bart Blatstein, purchased the Showboat in 2016 and has been focused on transforming it into a more family-friendly destination.
Blatstein initially sought a casino license for the Showboat, but a deed restriction prevented gaming from returning to the resort. Undeterred, he shifted the resort’s focus to non-gaming amenities and has marketed it as such.
The resort’s Lucky Snake Arcade, billed as the “Biggest Arcade in America,” and the indoor go-kart racetrack have been well-received by guests of all ages. However, the Island Waterpark has received mixed reviews, with some guests citing high ticket costs as a drawback.
To address this, the waterpark has reduced its adult entry price from $89 to $49 and has adjusted its operating hours. During the fall and winter, the waterpark is open on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
