A deceased individual discovered in Henderson, Nevada on Sunday morning bears resemblances to a local 17-year-old girl who has been missing since the previous Monday, according to law enforcement authorities.
Henderson police stated in an announcement that the female’s body was located in the desert east of Desert Sunflower Circle, approximately 17 miles southeast of Las Vegas.
The discovery was made by an individual who promptly alerted Henderson police and firefighters.
Upon arrival at 10:42 a.m., officers and fire crews inspected the individual and determined that she resembled Jennaleah “Jenna” Hin, according to police.
No Suspicion of Foul Play
“Henderson Detectives proceeded to the site and initial inquiries suggest that no indications of foul play are evident,” a police statement released at 2:32 p.m. on Sunday remarked.
The identity of the deceased will be disclosed by the Clark County Coroner’s Office following notification of next of kin. Since this is an ongoing investigation, no further details will be disclosed at this point in time,” Sunday’s statement added.
Concerns About Dehydration
Authorities had cautioned last week that the missing teenager might be in the desert, with searchers expressing apprehension about survivability being challenging beyond 72 hours without sustenance or hydration.
Hin had left her residence following a disagreement with her parents, devoid of provisions such as food, water, supplies, or a mobile phone, according to officials.
“She was distressed when she departed,” mentioned Mark Speer, a Red Rock Search and Rescue commander (a local volunteer organization), in remarks to reporters last week. “So, every passing day becomes more crucial… Each day is more critical than the preceding one.”
Scent Tracked by Canine
A specially-trained dog had detected her scent earlier in the week, but she could not be located. In addition to search canines, the operation involved helicopters, drones, and search personnel on horseback, motorcycles, and off-road vehicles.
Multiple law enforcement agencies, DEA agents, school police officers, and Red Rock Search and Rescue contributed to the search efforts. Some of her high school peers and local adults volunteered as well.
Speer termed the dispute as a “common family quarrel… that teenagers often have with their parents. Nothing unusual.”
He also characterized the missing teenager as “outstanding in every aspect. She never had any issues with her parents, or with running away, or any encounters with law enforcement in her history.”
She excelled academically at Foothill High School in Henderson and aspired to pursue a career in nursing, as reported by Las Vegas TV station KSNV.
Her parents were devastated and commenced searching for their daughter immediately upon realizing she was missing.
