As of December 19, 2023, an effort is being made to bring a commercial casino to the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri and has been gaining support from local and state officials. This week, the Miller County Commission unanimously approved a resolution in favor of casino development in the region. The group Osage River Gaming is leading the initiative and aims to start a statewide gaming referendum in 2024 to allow voters to approve casino gambling along the Osage River. This project has gained support from the City of Lake Ozark’s Board of Aldermen and has appointed Bally’s as the development partner. The Osage Nation is also fighting to bring a tribal casino to Lake Ozarks, which would not be required to pay certain state or local taxes and operate Class I and II games under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. Stay tuned for more updates on the ongoing developments.
