Authorities have charged two individuals with attempted intentional homicide following a violent altercation at Lucky Lil’s Casino in Bozeman, Montana, on Saturday night, according to local news outlet KBZK.
Kyhl Lorenzen, age 24, from Emigrant, Montana, and Summer Overgaauw were apprehended shortly after police received a report about a stabbing at the casino, where they found a man with knife wounds on his shoulder and wrist.
Authorities investigated the venue’s security footage, revealing a verbal confrontation between Lorenzen and the victim. While the stabbing was not on camera, the video documented a minivan speeding toward the victim, who managed to evade serious injury despite his wounds.
Link to 2022 Murder Investigation
Further investigation identified Overgaauw as the driver of the minivan. She has connections to an unrelated murder case from 2022, where her former partner, Tyler Netto, was fatally shot by a man named Skyler Griebel.
Before his death, Netto had sent a text to a sheriff’s deputy, alleging illegal drug activities involving Griebel and Overgaauw and claiming that Griebel had threatened him.
On February 8, 2022, after Netto and a companion arrived at Overgaauw’s residence, an altercation between Griebel and Netto escalated, resulting in the deadly shooting. Griebel was convicted of deliberate homicide in October 2025 and is currently awaiting sentencing.
On Monday, bail was set at $50,000 for Overgaauw and $75,000 for Lorenzen. During the investigation, authorities confiscated 22 grams of methamphetamine from Lorenzen.
This incident marks the second violent crime reported at a local casino within a week. On December 28, police arrested a man suspected of robbing and strangling a gambler in a restroom at the Magic Diamond Casino located in Belgrade, approximately 10 miles west of Bozeman.
‘No Increase in Crime’
Montana’s casinos, mostly modest establishments outside of tribal areas, primarily function as bars or taverns, often featuring a liquor store. They offer card games, pull-tab games with sports themes, and video gaming machines.
With around 1,400 licensed gaming establishments throughout the state, reports of robberies and violent incidents at Montana casinos have frequently made headlines.
However, Captain Michael Van Meter from the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office remarked last week that there has not been a significant rise in crime in the casino vicinity, though he advised gamblers to remain cautious.
“When handling large amounts of cash in public, it’s essential to be mindful of your personal belongings and valuables,” he stated.
