- Super Bowl Betting Sees Lowest Participation in Nevada Since 2016
- Overall Bets Amounted to $133.8 Million Across Nevada’s 186 Sportsbooks
- Preliminary Reports Indicate Sportsbook Earnings Exceeding $9.89 Million
The recent Super Bowl LX, featuring the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots, turned out to be a significant letdown on the field, leading to considerable disappointment for Nevada sportsbooks as well.

Data from the Nevada Gaming Control Board indicates that total wagers reached $133.8 million (unaudited) for the Super Bowl across 186 sportsbooks in Nevada, marking the lowest figure since the 2016 matchup between the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers, which saw $132.5 million in wagers. Denver prevailed in that game 24-10, marking Peyton Manning’s last NFL appearance.
Significant Drop in Hold Percentage
In contrast, last year’s Super Bowl, featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, garnered a total of $151.6 million in wagers.
This past Sunday, sportsbooks in Nevada reported earnings of $9.89 million from Super Bowl bets, achieving a 7.4% hold after settling winning wagers. This contrasts sharply with the previous year’s earnings of a record $22.1 million, which accounted for a 14.6% hold.
NFL Betting Insights: Seahawks Showcase Dominance
The Seahawks secured a decisive victory on Sunday, defeating the Patriots 29-13 at Levi’s Stadium. Seattle’s quarterback, Sam Darnold, passed for 202 yards without turnovers, while running back Kenneth Walker III amassed 135 yards on 27 carries and was honored as MVP.
Seattle’s defense was formidable, while Patriots QB Drake Maye later confessed to struggles with a right shoulder injury, affecting his performance (27 completions on 43 attempts for 295 yards, with two interceptions and a dismal QBR of 16.3 — an NFL rating that encompasses a quarterback’s overall contribution to the game).
The score stood at 9-0 at halftime, with the first touchdown occurring only at 13:24 in the fourth quarter.
Seahawks Cover the Spread
The Seahawks entered the game as 4.5-point favorites, a line that remained stable leading up to kickoff. Johnny Avello, Director of DraftKings Sportsbook, shared insights last Friday indicating that bets were favoring the Seahawks on the spread, while the Patriots attracted moneyline bets, entering as underdogs at +190.
Betting markets are already speculating on the next Super Bowl winner. DraftKings has the Seahawks favored to repeat at +950, closely followed by the L.A. Rams at +950, the Buffalo Bills at +1100, the Philadelphia Eagles at +1300, and the Patriots also at +1300. FanDuel shows Seahawks at +750, Rams at +800, Baltimore Ravens at +1200, Bills at +1200, and Green Bay Packers at +1300.
