Celebrating a significant milestone, New Mexico’s Sandia Resort and Casino recently marked its 25th anniversary at its current location, initiating a vibrant 150-day lineup of festivities and promotional events.

According to Sandia Pueblo Governor Stuart Paisano, the casino’s establishment is attributed to the persistent efforts and strategic planning of earlier tribal leaders, as reported by KOB4.

“The journey started nearly 42 years ago with the launch of Sandia Indian Bingo, progressing through various phases, including the memorable big tent era, and ultimately leading us to our present site,” he remarked. “Their vision has always focused on enhancing essential services such as healthcare, education, housing, and critical infrastructure for our community.”

The inauguration of the event on Wednesday featured an array of food, beverages, raffles, and entertainment, as officials shared an extensive agenda of summer concerts and promotional activities. Paisano hinted at exciting additions to come.

“I envision ongoing enhancements to the facility, with a diverse range of entertainment options,” he informed KOB 4. “We look forward to revealing some upcoming expansions shortly.”

While the casino officially opened its doors in 2001, the venue has witnessed numerous expansions over the years, including the addition of a hotel in 2005, a golf pavilion, and a parking garage in 2014.

Today, the expansive gaming area encompasses about 140,000 square feet and hosts more than 1,900 slot machines.
