The launch coincided with bitcoin reaching record highs of over $90K this week (trading at $91,205.99 as of Thursday morning) following the election of former President Donald Trump.

There are forecasts suggesting that the price of bitcoin may exceed $100K by the end of the month, driven by speculation that the Trump administration will relax regulations on cryptocurrency.

Founders with FanDuel Background

Founder of BetHog are Nigel Eccles and Rob Jones, who were also part of the founding team of FanDuel sportsbook.

The crypto casino sector has experienced significant growth in recent years due to advances such as provably fair games, strong VIP programs, and live streaming,” commented BetHog Co-CEO Eccles in a statement. “With BetHog, my aim is to push boundaries further by introducing unique and visually engaging games to the market. I aim to offer users distinctive play-along and skill-based games, along with a robust VIP program, but above all, this is about maximizing enjoyment for our users.”

The website was launched following a 10-month development process. It features exclusive BetHog games like HODL (Crash for meme coins), Thermonuclear Boars (Mines), and Liar’s Dice. Other games are provided by Pragmatic and Evolution.

The BetHog casino is founded on Solana, a blockchain platform. SOL is the token used for the company’s PvP titles. BetHog also accepts bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tether (USDT).

BetHog secured $6M in its initial funding round led by 6MV, a gaming-focused venture capital firm. Other contributors include Will Ventures, Bullpen Capital, Karatage, Advancit Capital, and several angel investors such as Chris Grove, a partner at Eilers & Krejcik, LLC, and Josh Hannah, co-founder of Flutter Entertainment.

The fresh influx of funds will be utilized for product development and to establish strategic partnerships.

Serge Kassardjian, general partner at 6MV, stated BetHog is “ideally positioned to tap into this significant opportunity to create the most innovative online casino and betting platform in this crypto era.”

“We believe this will attract a diverse audience of crypto and non-crypto gamers to enjoy this distinct and entertaining gambling experience.”

Not Accessible in US

Currently, BetHog is not accessible in the US or much of Europe. However, Forbes reported this week that BetHog aims to eventually provide services to players in these regions “where possible,” as mentioned by Eccles.

BetHog holds a license in Anjouan, situated in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Africa.

The company was established as BetDEX Exchange, a crypto sportsbook based in Scotland, was launched in May.

A few weeks ago, another crypto online casino named MetaWin was hacked, resulting in a $4M loss. The London-based online casino operates under a license also issued from Anjouan.
