A prediction market conference initially planned for the ARIA Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip has stirred up controversy on social media. Organizers alleged that ARIA canceled the event due to regulatory pressure from state authorities, a claim the regulators firmly refute.

Dubbed “Predict 2026” and organized by Volti Co. and Predict Summit LLC, the event is now scheduled to take place from December 7-9 in New York City.

“Following the termination of our Las Vegas venue contract due to regulatory pressures related to prediction markets from the Nevada Gaming Control Board, we have opted to bring the conference to NYC. The necessity for collaboration to promote prediction markets for societal benefit has never been greater,” according to their website.

The NGCB asserts that these statements are misleading. A request for comment from the conference organizers went unanswered before the publication of this article.

What the NGCB Has to Say

In a prompt response to an inquiry from Casino.org, the NGCB clarified that they played no role in the conference’s departure from ARIA.

“The Nevada Gaming Control Board did not direct, request, or exert pressure on any licensee or venue to cancel or refuse to host any recent or forthcoming events or conferences, as suggested,” stated the regulator in a communication to Casino.org.

To safeguard Nevada’s gaming sector, essential for the state’s economy, the NGCB maintains a strict stance against prediction markets but does not dictate which events licensees can or cannot host.

According to the NGCB’s statement, “Gaming licensees are required to comply with all federal, state, and local laws and prevent any situations that might harm the reputation of the state or the gaming industry.” They added, “Licensees are encouraged to conduct their own due diligence to ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.”

History of Prediction Market Conferences in Las Vegas

There’s no denying that speculation is popular on social media, and those in the gaming and prediction market fields are no exception. However, it’s improbable that the NGCB would forcibly remove prediction market conferences from Las Vegas. The city has a history of hosting these kinds of events.

The “Prediction Conference” took place at MEET Las Vegas, a downtown meeting space, in April and is scheduled to return for another event in November.

While it’s important to note that MEET Las Vegas is not a casino hotel, it does provide several well-known downtown gaming venues as accommodation options for attendees.
