New details have emerged regarding the man accused of abducting a woman from Newcastle Casino in Oklahoma last month and subsequently sexually assaulting her.
The victim voluntarily entered the suspect’s vehicle on November 25. However, the suspect, Kevin Alando Martin, prevented her from leaving once she was inside the car, as reported by Oklahoma TV station KFOR.
Accused of Sex Trafficking
Subsequently, he allegedly coerced the woman into working for him as a prostitute. He also stole her purse, removed a knife from it, and placed the knife under his car seat, according to the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office.
He then drove her to a location in Oklahoma City, where he allegedly forced her to engage in a sexual act.
Additionally, he instructed her to return to her residence, gather her money, and hand it over to him, prosecutors stated.
Police Alerted by a Friend
Once at the residence, the victim informed someone that she was being compelled to do things against her will. The individual then contacted local law enforcement.
Police officers arrived at NW 22nd Street and North May Avenue in Oklahoma City, where they found the victim. She pointed out a nearby vehicle in which Martin was seated.
Martin was arrested and charged with offenses including kidnapping, human trafficking, and forcible sodomy, per Oklahoma TV station KOKH.
Following the incident, a casino spokesperson issued a statement to KFOR.
“The safety and security of our guests and employees are our top priorities at Newcastle Casino,” the statement read. “Our casino staff and security personnel are trained to respond to any reports from individuals who feel uncomfortable. We take each report seriously and address it promptly, whether by providing an escort to the person’s vehicle or notifying law enforcement.”
The spokesperson, Kym Koch Thompson, also confirmed awareness of the November 25 incident.
We have and will continue to collaborate with local law enforcement agencies in their investigation,” Thompson added.
The casino is located approximately 24 miles from where Martin was apprehended.
Furthermore, authorities revealed that Martin had a prior felony arrest for domestic abuse by strangulation and a pending case for human trafficking in Oklahoma County during April, in a seemingly unrelated case involving a teenage victim, as reported by KOKH.
