In January, Pennsylvania experienced an impressive 11.64% year-over-year increase in total gaming revenue, reaching $590,644,755, as reported by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. Both iGaming and sports betting displayed double-digit growth.

This month’s revenue significantly exceeded the $529,079,052 tallied in January 2025, contributing $249,969,629 in tax revenue. However, revenue decreased by 4.2% compared to December 2025.

Surge in Sports Betting Revenue by 38.63%

Taxable sports betting revenue surged by 38.63% to reach $71,393,613, up from $51,500,459 the previous year. The total handle amounted to $782,423,791, reflecting a 10.39% decrease from January 2025’s $873,149,858. The statewide hold was 9.13%.

Online sports betting made up $67,623,872 of this revenue, while land-based betting accounted for $3,769,742.

Valley Forge Casino Resort led the sector with $27,657,457 in revenue from a handle of $276,322,585. Hollywood Casino at the Meadows followed with $22,677,099 from a handle of $235,828,664, whereas Hollywood Casino York reported $5,580,764 from $56,296,416.

The total tax revenue generated from sports betting was $25,701,701.

iGaming Achieves 18.62% Growth

Internet casino gaming brought in $249,301,331 in January, marking an increase of 18.62% compared to January 2025’s $210,170,977. This figure fell short of December’s record of $259.7 million.

Online slots generated $194,825,533, reflecting a 22.81% year-over-year increase. Revenue from iGaming table games reached $51,971,610, up 6.20%, while online poker saw a decline of 3.62% to $2,504,189.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course posted $96,245,668 in iGaming revenue, up from $79,732,207 the previous year, representing a 20.71% increase. Valley Forge Casino Resort reported $67,177,131, up 16.61%, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia recorded $40,142,905, reflecting a 13.25% increase.

Tax revenues from iGaming amounted to $113,918,351.

Modest Growth in Retail Slots and Tables

Retail slot revenue increased by 0.67% to $189,098,891, up from $187,834,351. The number of active slot machines fell to 24,161 from last year’s 24,388. Tax revenue from slots totaled $95,571,123.

Parx Casino earned $29,225,770 from slots, showing a decrease of 2.47%, while Wind Creek Bethlehem generated $21,107,606, down 0.71%. Rivers Casino Pittsburgh recorded $20,797,564, an increase of 1.18%.

Retail table games revenue climbed 2.80% to $75,781,693, up from $73,720,836. Wind Creek Bethlehem topped table game revenue with $21,233,785, an increase of 8.94%, followed by Parx Casino with $17,186,064, up 11.14%, and Live! Casino Philadelphia with $9,245,433, which saw a rise of 19.02%. Total tax revenue from table games was $12,836,616.

Video Gaming Terminals (VGTs) and Fantasy Sports

Video gaming terminals at qualified truck stops generated $3,193,118 in adjusted revenue, a slight 0.56% increase from $3,175,197. By the end of January, 76 locations operated a maximum of five machines each, up from 74 the previous year. The tax revenue from VGTs totaled $1,660,421.

Fantasy sports revenue plummeted by 29.92% to $1,876,110, down from $2,677,232. DraftKings reported $1,178,671, a decrease of 19.64%, while FanDuel saw $329,326, a 16.53% drop. Tax revenue from fantasy contests was $281,416.
