A man from Las Vegas was recently taken into custody for manipulating a fentanyl addict into engaging in prostitution by continuously providing her with the deadly drug, officials disclosed.
Jezmyn Hays provided the homeless woman with accommodation and repeatedly administered fentanyl to her in return for engaging in sex work, as per the police.
The illicit substance served as Hays’ primary means of coercing her into working, as per a police report quoted in the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Hays seized all the earnings the woman made from prostitution and frequently used threats of violence against her, law enforcement stated.
Moreover, he circulated “enticing images” of the woman online to entice clients to pay for sexual services, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD).
These accusations against the woman were brought to light during an undercover operation.
The woman’s subsequent actions after contacting the authorities remain undisclosed. Frequently, women involved in prostitution receive counseling from social services organizations.
Hays was apprehended on Monday for pandering. He was already detained at the Clark County Detention Center due to a previous offense.
Formerly, Hays had been convicted in California for pandering and operating as a pimp, stated the Review-Journal.
Hays was additionally charged with illegal possession of an exotic animal after officers found a monkey confined in a cage at his property, as per the authorities.
Hays had shared a photo on Instagram showing him walking with the monkey on Las Vegas Boulevard, noted the Review-Journal.
The monkey was relocated to an animal control facility.
Ulysses Grant Suspected of Homicide
An elderly individual named Ulysses S. Grant, identical to the former U.S. president, was arrested this week for purportedly fatally stabbing his Las Vegas neighbor.
The deadly incident occurred on Tuesday following a dispute between Grant, 76, and his neighbor over loud music at a downtown apartment complex, reported Las Vegas TV station KLAS.
The victim was identified as Marcus Johnson. He sustained stab wounds to the upper body, according to the police. Witnesses mentioned that his neck and stomach were covered in blood following the attack, as per the Review-Journal. Johnson perished at the scene.
Grant confessed to law enforcement that he physically assaulted the victim but did not intend for him to be harmed or killed, revealed the news report.
After the stabbing, a dying Johnson inquired of Grant, “What have you done to me,” as reported by witnesses to the police.
Initially, Grant visited Johnson’s apartment to address the issue of loud music.
Following an altercation, Grant returned to his own apartment to retrieve a knife and then allegedly committed the stabbing at Johnson’s residence.
Prior to the incident, the two had argued about alcoholic beverages.
Grant expressed regret to law enforcement officials for the fatality.
He faces charges of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon and burglary while carrying a deadly weapon.
Grant remained in custody at the Clark County Detention Center as of Friday and is scheduled for a court appearance on Tuesday. Upon conviction, he could potentially face a lengthy prison sentence.
