The Plaza Hotel & Casino in downtown Las Vegas unveils a new high-limit slots room featuring over 50 slot machines with increased maximum bets.
The 2,000-square-foot space showcases the latest slot themes, personalized guest services, and a dedicated concierge desk. Plaza’s Players Club top-tier members can even check into their hotel rooms from this new space.
Casino hosts are available to assist guests with dinner reservations at Oscar’s Steakhouse, hotel room upgrades, rooftop pool cabana bookings, and recommendations for Las Vegas activities.
The room blends classic Las Vegas design with modern elements, including dark tones, gold Art Deco accents, and luxurious upholstery. It can also be transformed into a private event space, complete with catering services and a lounge area for watching sports.
“With the new High Limit Slots Room, we aimed to not only offer the latest and most popular games with higher limits, but also focus on providing personalized customer service, such as hotel check-in and a dedicated concierge desk,” said Jonathan Jossel, CEO of The Plaza Hotel & Casino.
“The Plaza is constantly expanding its range of services to meet the evolving needs of our guests,” he added. “We have witnessed significant growth in our slot business as we welcome more high-end players, and many of our long-time guests have requested this gaming amenity.”
The room’s slot machines come equipped with Acres Cashless Gaming technology, supporting Apple Pay and other electronic payment options. Players can also access unattended jackpots, an ATM/TITO redemption machine, round-the-clock cocktail service, and complimentary chilled non-alcoholic beverages.
The machines can process jackpots without staff assistance, reducing wait times for payouts. This feature is designed for high-limit players who frequently hit reporting thresholds with large bets.
The federal reporting threshold for slot jackpots increased to $2,000 from $1,200 on January 1, 2026, under the 2025 One Big Beautiful Bill Act. This higher threshold means fewer manual jackpot payouts for high-denomination players. However, federal tax changes also limited gambling loss deductions to 90% of winnings starting in tax year 2026, down from 100%. This change means frequent gamblers may face a tax liability even if their overall winnings and losses are roughly equal.
Jossel announced plans for further expansion at The Plaza, including introducing new food and beverage concepts. “We are just getting started,” he declared.
To celebrate the grand opening, The Plaza has teamed up with social media influencer Travel Ruby to host a $10,000 high-stakes slot tournament on August 28 and 29. Players who earn at least 1,000 slot points while playing in the High Limit Room will also have a chance to win a Virgin Cruise Experience for two.
