- Social media buzz suggests that Polymarket is on the verge of launching its own cryptocurrency.
- The company has recently filed patents for the new “POLY” token.
Traders involved in cryptocurrency and prediction markets may have reasons to celebrate soon, as it appears that Polymarket is likely preparing to unveil a native token.

A recent tweet from a Polymarket intern hints at an upcoming launch for one-minute crypto prediction markets, potentially leading to the long-awaited introduction of the native Polymarket token.
Last October, Polymarket’s CMO Matthew Modabber confirmed plans for the derivatives exchange to issue its own cryptocurrency, likely carrying the ticker “POLY,” and an airdrop event is expected. Previous regulatory submissions to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) have also fueled speculation about the company, which is already a significant player in the crypto space, launching its own digital currency.
The intern did not specify a launch timeline for POLY. Polymarket holds a position as one of the leading event contract platforms worldwide.
Indications of an Imminent Polymarket Token Release
While the exact timing for Polymarket’s cryptocurrency launch remains uncertain, numerous signs suggest it could happen soon.
The company made recent filings with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for the names “POLY” and “$POLY.” The inclusion of dollar signs is common for discussing various securities, including digital currencies, across social media platforms like X.
CoinMarketCap.com, a leading source for crypto data and news, has already set up a POLY placeholder page, perhaps indicating preparations for the token’s launch. Community sentiment currently stands at 91% bullish for POLY, showcasing widespread optimism for this upcoming asset.
“This page serves as an initial placeholder for the future Polymarket token. Further details are not available yet. We encourage interested parties to stay tuned for updates through official Polymarket channels,” announces CoinMarketCap.
Competitors Creating Markets Around POLY Launch
The prediction markets industry is relatively nascent, yet it has quickly revealed that companies often create markets related to their competitors, which is currently the case with Polymarket and POLY.
For instance, Opinion Labs, which is not accessible to users in the US, and Predict.fun, referred to as the “BNB-native prediction market,” are providing yes/no contracts regarding the official launch date of the Polymarket token.
On both platforms, most bets suggest confidence in the cryptocurrency being launched in the third quarter, with an increasing percentage of bets indicating traders expect POLY to debut by the end of 2026.
