The Multi-State Lottery Association, which manages Powerball for its 48 participating jurisdictions, is set to introduce a brand-new game called Millionaire for Life this coming Sunday, February 22. Each draw presents players with the potential to win $1 million per year for life.

“Winning a million dollars each year for life is a dream come true,” remarked Tom Seaver, Senior Director at the Colorado Lottery, overseeing this exciting launch. “Millionaire for Life enriches our lottery landscapes by offering players more options to pursue life-changing rewards.”

The game will be available in 30 states plus the District of Columbia. States participating include: Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Lottery Drawing in Central Time

In contrast to Powerball and Mega Millions, which draw at 10:59 pm and 11:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST), Millionaire for Life will take place nightly at 10:15 pm Central Standard Time (CST), which is one hour behind EST.

Millionaire for Life is a $5 draw-based game with a top prize winning odds of 1 in over 22.9 million. There’s also a second-tier prize that offers $100,000 each year for life with odds of 1 in approximately 5.73 million.

Similar to Powerball, Millionaire for Life draws six balls: five white balls and one green Millionaire Ball. The white balls are numbered from 1 through 58, and there are five different Millionaire Balls.

Players can win in nine different ways, with the lowest prize being $8 (net $3) for matching two white balls or a white ball with the Millionaire Ball. The odds for winning this $8 prize are as favorable as 1 in 15.65.

The overall odds of winning any prize stand at 1 in 8.46. As with all lottery offerings from the Multi-State Lottery Association, a portion of ticket sales supports public programs and services through the respective host lotteries.

Powerball Offerings

Millionaire for Life is the sixth game from the Multi-State Lottery Association, joining the likes of Powerball, Lotto America, 2by2, Double Play, and Jackpot USA. Apart from Jackpot USA, all are draw games, while Jackpot USA is an instant-play game created via lottery terminals.

Total lottery sales across states reached an estimated $109.4 billion in 2025, reflecting a year-over-year decline of 3.6%.
