  • Arkansas Powerball jackpot won on Dec. 24 and March 2
  • March 2 winner claims a whopping $250.8 million jackpot

Once again, the Powerball jackpot has been claimed in Arkansas. Following a monumental win on December 24, which saw a ticket holder take home an incredible $1.817 billion, another fortunate player has hit the jackpot.

According to Powerball, a single ticket sold in Arkansas managed to match all six numbers in the March 2 lottery draw. This marks the second jackpot win in the state within just 68 days.

The winning numbers for the March 2 drawing were 2, 17, 18, 38, 62, with the red Powerball being 20. The Power Play multiplier was set at 2X.

The fortunate ticket holder has the option to choose between a $250.8 million prize paid out over 29 years or a one-time lump sum of $118 million, both before taxes.

“We are thrilled that another Powerball jackpot ticket has been sold in Arkansas,” stated Sharon Strong, Executive Director of the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. “It’s exciting to see a player win a transformative prize, which ultimately benefits retailers, students, and all Arkansans.”

The cash option would result in approximately $69.7 million after federal taxes at 37% and Arkansas’ share of 3.9% are deducted. Alternatively, the annuity option totals around $149.5 million after 30 payments are completed.

Confidentiality for Arkansas Lottery Winners

In Arkansas, winners of major lottery jackpots such as Powerball and Mega Millions have a 180-day window from the date of the draw to claim their winnings. Furthermore, state law allows winners of more than $500,000 to maintain their anonymity for up to three years.

“If a winner of a lottery prize exceeding $500,000 requests to keep their information private, that request will be honored, making their details confidential for public disclosure for three years,” as stated in state law.

The recipient of the Christmas Eve Powerball jackpot has chosen to remain anonymous. Therefore, details about the individual who claimed the $834.9 million cash prize (reduced to $493.5 million post-tax) won’t be revealed until late 2028.

The Arkansas Lottery’s anonymity provisions enable winners to maintain privacy as they adjust to sudden wealth.

The March 2 jackpot win marks the second occurrence of a jackpot win this year, following a $209.3 million win by a player in North Carolina on January 21.

A Kind Gesture Results in $1 Million Win

In Maryland, a man named Ryan scored a $1 million prize from a scratch-off ticket after he kindly allowed a woman to move ahead of him in the Walmart checkout line. Keeping his last name private, Ryan shared that he let the woman pass at the store located at 407 George Clauss Boulevard in Severn.

In appreciation, the woman gifted him two $10 scratch-off tickets. Ryan used one of those tickets to win $50, which he then decided to invest in two $25 lottery scratch-offs from the Maryland Lottery’s $1,000,000 Crossword. Remarkably, one of these tickets won him $1 million.

Ryan expressed that the winnings will help fund his upcoming wedding.
