- Experience the new Mint Casino in downtown Reno
- Located within the historic former Harrah’s resort
A fresh gaming destination, The Mint, has officially opened its doors inside the site of the former Harrah’s in Reno.

Among the smallest casinos in Reno, The Mint showcases only 18 gaming machines. Opened on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, it features a vintage-style bar serving creative cocktails such as the Gold Rush, which combines Maker’s Mark bourbon, lemon juice, and honey syrup. The dining options include breakfast and quick meals like pizza, wings, and wraps.
“With 18 gaming machines, it provides an ideal environment for sipping drinks, socializing, and enjoying the games in a uniquely lively setting,” states The Mint’s website, referring to itself as the “Biggest Little Casino in the World,” cleverly echoing Reno’s marketing slogan.
Open 24/7, The Mint is situated at 210 N. Virginia St. in the heart of Reno. Note that there are no table games or sports betting available.
Reviving Gaming in Reno
The Mint Casino inhabits the former Harrah’s, which enjoyed over 50 years of operation before closing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Harrah’s Reno, the first casino under the Harrah name, debuted on October 10, 1969, and ceased operations on March 17, 2020, during Eldorado Resorts’ acquisition of Caesars.
The expansive 928-room hotel and its 40,000-square-foot casino remained empty for five years as redevelopment plans for a mixed-use project named “Reno City Center” fell through.
Designed by the renowned Las Vegas architect Martin Stern Jr., who crafted notable properties like Westgate and MGM Grand, this venue was sold again in 2023 to Gryphon Private Wealth Management along with Madison Capital Group.
In March 2025, the new ownership announced plans for “Revival,” a mixed-use project aimed at refurbishing the resort into office space, retail outlets, dining establishments, and even a grocery store. Initially, casino operations weren’t a part of this plan.
However, Madison later decided to collaborate with Fine Entertainment to manage a boutique casino while the redevelopment is underway. The Nevada Gaming Commission granted a gaming license for the property in 2023.
Las Vegas-based Fine Entertainment operates a variety of restaurants and gaming venues, including The George Sportsmen’s Lounge, The Rockhouse at The Venetian, The Oak Room, and BLVD Grille.
A Unique Gaming Experience
In an interview with the Reno Gazette-Journal, Fine Entertainment CEO Jonathan Fine emphasizes that The Mint will not mirror Las Vegas but rather offer an experience reminiscent of Nashville or Austin.
“We’re not trying to replicate the Las Vegas entertainment experience,” Fine stated. “Our concept aligns more with Nashville or Austin, infused with a touch of glam and a larger scale than typically seen in Austin.”
