The dealer, known as Jianming Li from Delaware, and a casino guest, Jun Na Zhang from New York, were charged for their involvement in two incidents in November 2019.

According to authorities, Li memorized the card sequence in the casino’s high-limit room and then shared it with Zhang as part of their cheating scheme.

Both individuals were sentenced for two counts of cheating and swindling over $1,000, and one count of larceny over $1,200 through a single scheme.

Li received a suspended 364-day sentence for two years.

Zhang’s 364-day sentence was suspended as well, with a provision for him to serve six months in prison, also for two years.

Suspect Enlists Another to Claim Winnings: Police

An individual was arrested this week for allegedly having someone else collect his $2,500 winnings at a casino.

Henry Rogan, 61, from Terre Haute, Indiana, was taken into custody on Tuesday for orchestrating the plan at Bally’s Casino in Evansville, Ind. He was then detained at the Vanderburgh County Jail.

In 2022, Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC) officials approached Rogan at the casino and informed him that having another person claim a jackpot is illegal, according to Indiana TV station WEVV.

Rogan claimed that he had the other individual collect the money because that person had previously provided him with gambling funds. Rogan also mentioned that they frequently gambled together at Bally’s Casino.

Upon further questioning, Rogan admitted that he owed child support money, which would result in the state seizing any casino winnings to cover the outstanding child support.

Subsequently, IGC officers interviewed the other person, discovering that he had no prior acquaintance with Rogan. Rogan had approached him at the casino and offered to pay him if he participated in the scheme, even though they were strangers prior to this encounter, as per police reports.
