The San Francisco 49ers have established a groundbreaking partnership in Mexico, naming Foliatti Casino as their first “Official Casino Partner.” This move showcases the NFL’s commitment to expanding its global presence and engaging with new audiences.
In a multiyear agreement, Foliatti Casino, a prominent Mexico-based casino brand owned by Grupo CECOM, will serve as the 49ers’ official casino partner. Foliatti operates three casinos in Monterrey, Guadalajara, and the State of Mexico, as well as an online gaming platform.
As part of the partnership, Foliatti Casino will become the presenting sponsor of the team’s popular “Lucky Six” game on the 49ers’ Spanish website, 49ers.com/esp. Fans can participate in this weekly contest for a chance to win official team merchandise. Additionally, winners of the “Lucky Six” game will now have the opportunity to win gaming credits that can be redeemed at Foliatti Casino’s physical locations or online.
Ryan Connors, the 49ers’ senior director of partnerships, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “Our partnership with Foliatti Casino is a significant milestone and allows us to connect with new communities in Mexico while providing unique experiences for 49ers supporters across the country.”
In addition to the “Lucky Six” promotion, Foliatti Casino will also be the presenting sponsor of the 49ers’ Official Watch Party events in Mexico.
Casino Partners
The partnership between the San Francisco 49ers and Foliatti Casino marks the team’s first gaming agreement in Mexico. However, the 49ers have existing partnerships with California tribes and their casinos.
These previous agreements include a marketing partnership with the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation and Cache Creek Casino Resort in Brooks, California. The Cache Creek Club, located inside Levi’s Stadium, offers exclusive access to ticketholders and boasts amenities such as fireplaces and bars.
The 49ers also have a marketing deal in place with the Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians and Black Oak Casino Resort. As part of this agreement, the Black Oak Casino Resort Club inside Levi’s Stadium provides a private space for gatherings and events.
Both tribal casino partnerships allow the Cache Creek and Black Oak casinos to advertise throughout the stadium and in in-stadium materials, such as gameday programs.
While many NFL teams have sportsbook partnerships in legal sports betting states, the 49ers do not have any such agreements due to the current legality of sports betting in California.
International Focus
As the NFL looks to increase its global presence, the San Francisco 49ers are specifically targeting Mexico to expand their international fanbase. Football, though growing in popularity, still trails traditional fútbol (soccer) in Mexico.
To support their international development efforts, the NFL launched the “Global Markets Program.” Mexico is one of the designated markets, allowing the 49ers and other approved teams like the Cardinals, Cowboys, Broncos, Texans, Chiefs, Raiders, Rams, and Steelers to actively engage with Mexican fans and communities.
