Circa Sports to Take Over Silverton Casino Lodge Sportsbook in Las Vegas
Silverton Casino Lodge in Las Vegas has chosen Circa Sports to operate its race and sportsbook beginning on January 1, 2024. Currently operated by Caesars Entertainment’s William Hill, the Silverton sportsbook will undergo renovations to accommodate Circa Sports. Derek Stevens, CEO of Circa, confirmed the plans at a recent meeting with the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
“It’s a project we’ve been working on with the Silverton for quite a while,” Stevens explained. “This satellite sportsbook will be a substantial renovation of the property and will be staffed entirely by Circa Sports employees.”
To coincide with the college football bowl games and the Super Bowl, a temporary sportsbook will open at Silverton on January 1. The permanent sportsbook, which is expected to attract significant attention during the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament (“March Madness”), will open shortly thereafter.
Circa Sports Expands Further in Nevada
In addition to its existing sportsbooks in downtown Las Vegas, Circa Sports will add the Silverton Casino to its list of locations in Nevada. The operator also partners with the Tuscany Suites & Casino, the Pass Casino in Henderson, and Legends Bay Casino in Sparks.
The Silverton, owned by Ed Roski Jr., is an exciting addition to Circa’s portfolio. While Circa may have fewer retail sportsbooks in Nevada compared to its competitors, it remains a popular choice among sports bettors.
One advantage for Circa is its reputation as a sportsbook that welcomes sharp bettors. Additionally, its annual NFL contests, Circa Million and Circa Survivor, attract thousands of participants, all of whom must visit a land-based Circa sportsbook to sign up.
As of late July, Circa ranked as the third-largest sportsbook in Nevada, only trailing Caesars/William Hill and MGM.
Strategic Move for Circa Sports
Circa’s decision to take over sportsbook operations at Silverton aligns with its cautious approach to expansion. Unlike some competitors who rush to enter every state with legalized sports betting, Circa focuses on Nevada and states with favorable regulations and tax environments.
In the future, Circa Sports may seek opportunities to manage sportsbooks at various casinos throughout Nevada, including those in Las Vegas and Reno/Lake Tahoe.
Outside of Nevada, Circa Sports also offers mobile sports wagering in Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, and Kentucky.
