R&B star and reality personality Ray J is currently undergoing medical evaluation at a Las Vegas hospital after suffering a knockout during an influencer-driven amateur MMA exhibition over the weekend, raising alarms regarding his ongoing health issues.

The 45‑year‑old entertainer was knocked down by a powerful left-right combination from comedian Supa Hot Fire early in the second round at UFC Apex on May 23. Footage of the knockout quickly circulated on social networks, initially perceived as another humorous viral spectacle in the crossover combat sports arena.

According to TMZ, the situation took a serious turn two hours later when Ray J voluntarily entered a Las Vegas hospital, displaying symptoms indicative of a concussion and heart rate irregularities.

As of Tuesday, May 26, TMZ reported that Ray J continues to be hospitalized, undergoing neurological evaluations and cardiac assessments. No official diagnosis has been provided, and Ray J has yet to make a public statement.

Health Concerns

Born William Ray Norwood Jr., Ray J gained fame in the early 2000s with hits like “Let It Go” and “Wait a Minute,” and became a reality star on the VH1 show For the Love of Ray J while also being featured in Kim Kardashian’s infamous 2007 sex tape.

More recently, he has been in the spotlight for grappling with severe health issues. In January 2026, Ray J was hospitalized for acute pneumonia and chest pain. At that time, TMZ reported that medical examinations including X-rays and an echocardiogram were conducted to assess possible heart complications.

Weeks later, Ray J shared with his followers in an emotional Instagram video that his heart was “only beating at 25 percent.” People later confirmed that he had been prescribed various medications and alerted to the potential need for a pacemaker or defibrillator.

Additionally, Ray J has openly admitted that years of excessive drinking and stimulant use have contributed to his deteriorating health. In a livestream earlier this year, he candidly stated that he underestimated the long-term impact of alcohol and Adderall, asserting, “I thought I could handle it… but I couldn’t.”

This latest incident has sparked renewed worry among fans and industry colleagues, many of whom question why Ray J chose to participate in a combat sports event given his precarious medical history.
