- A social club administrator is accused of embezzling $376K for online gambling
- The accused faces two counts of second-degree felony charges and up to 10 years in prison
- The case involves the Viking Athletic Association in York, Pennsylvania
The former administrator of the Viking Athletic Association, a nonprofit social club located in York, Pennsylvania, has been charged with theft for allegedly embezzling over $376,000 to support her gambling addiction.

On Tuesday, the District Attorney’s Office in York County filed a felony charge against Brittany Jackson, age 38. Prosecutors contend that, while managing the Viking Athletic Association, Jackson misappropriated hundreds of thousands of dollars from the club to cover her online gambling debts.
The organization notified the West York Borough Police Department in early May after a financial audit uncovered discrepancies amounting to $376,460. An investigation revealed that Jackson exploited her access to the club’s banking accounts to allegedly divert funds for online gambling. Authorities suspect Jackson had a severe gambling addiction, having deposited over $2 million into her online gambling accounts within a span of less than two years.
The origin of her remaining funds is unknown. Jackson has been charged with two counts of second-degree felonies—unlawful theft and receiving stolen goods. She could face up to a decade in prison and a fine of $25,000, in addition to restitution.
Jackson is currently out on an unsecured bail of $10,000. She is scheduled to appear in court on July 15 for a preliminary hearing. Court documents do not indicate whether Jackson has legal representation.
Financial Stability of the Nonprofit
Despite the alleged wrongdoing, the Viking Athletic Association asserts that it remains financially sound.
“We are disheartened by these allegations, which reflect a significant breach of trust by our former manager, who exploited her leadership position within our organization. Even though the Viking AA has fallen victim to a substantial financial crime, we are still a strong financial entity,” the statement read.
“All operations will continue as normal without any interruption, including our dining and bar services, banquets, and special events,” the statement further explained.
Social clubs such as the Viking Athletic Association are quite popular in York County, offering affordable food and drinks. Other notable establishments in the area include the Hawk Gunning Club, Victory Athletic Association, and Prince Athletic Association.
Viking Skill Games
Similar to many private social clubs in Pennsylvania, the Viking Athletic Association includes an array of slot-like skill games. Recently, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that these gray games qualify as gambling and must be disabled within 120 days unless the state legislature intervenes.
Critics argue that skill games in Pennsylvania have led to a surge in gambling addictions. However, it is noteworthy that Jackson did not steal funds to play these machines, but rather utilized online casinos.
The affidavit did not clarify whether Jackson engaged with a legal, regulated online casino or an offshore gambling site, both of which carry ongoing consumer risks in Pennsylvania.
