- Teen arrested after stabbing incident involving three horses at Las Vegas event
- Horse owners report that all injured animals are anticipated to recover
- Law enforcement alleges the suspect wielded a knife inside South Point barn
A teenage girl has been charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty and felony property crimes after three horses were stabbed during the NBHA Supershow barrel racing event at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas.

The alleged assailant was identified as a participant in the event by the owners of the horses on social media. An owner asserted that the teen had been stalking her online, labeling her an “obsessed stalker.”
According to a statement from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, officers were dispatched to the casino around 2 a.m. on Saturday after receiving reports of an injured horse in the barn.
The teen was soon identified as a potential suspect. Investigators indicated that she had access to the barn and was believed to have used a knife to inflict severe injuries on the horses, identified by their owners as Rocket, Sully, and Detail. Fortunately, all three horses are expected to make a full recovery, according to the LVMPD.
Owner Claims Stalker Obsession
“An obsessed stalker who has been following me for a significant time on social media, fixating on Detail and eager to meet me, has sent messages that I never replied to,” stated Detail’s owner, Arielle Phillips, in a Facebook post.
Phillips recounted that the suspect approached her twice before the incident in Barn A, trying to engage in conversation and asking peculiar questions despite being assigned to a different barn. She believes the teen was watching to determine whether she left the area.
According to Phillips, security footage captured the suspect entering Detail’s stall at 12:04 a.m., just two minutes after Phillips departed at 12:02 a.m. Phillips asserted that the assault was premeditated, noting that Detail was stabbed six times, which caused the horse to panic, break free, and run through the barn while losing a significant amount of blood.
‘Praying for All Involved Horses’
Keira Weisbart, owner of Rocket, reported that her horse was stabbed three times, with additional “attempted stab wounds” on his body.
“We hold no blame against South Point; they did everything within their power,” she added. “I pray for every other horse involved. The individual responsible for this heinous act is now in custody.”
The suspect is facing 12 charges of willfully or maliciously injuring, maiming, or torturing a horse, along with three counts of felony destruction of private property valued over $5,000.
Casino.org is refraining from disclosing the suspect’s identity as the police have not publicly released her name.
