Las Vegas Shooting Incident Near Suncoast Hotel and Casino
A male victim was wounded in a shooting incident that occurred near Suncoast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The incident took place at approximately 7:35 p.m. near the intersection of Alta Drive and Rampart Boulevard.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. No updates on the victim’s condition have been provided.
The Las Vegas police have not disclosed any information regarding a suspect in the case. They have not released a description of the suspect either.
98-Year Sentence for Armed Robbery at Virginia Casino
A man, Daquan Artis, was sentenced to 98 years in prison for robbing two casino winners in Virginia. The sentencing took place in Prince William County court. Artis was convicted on multiple counts, including attempted aggravated murder, aggravated malicious wounding, two robbery charges, and four charges of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
The victims had won undisclosed jackpots at Maryland’s MGM National Harbor casino on December 19, 2019. They were followed to their home in Woodbridge, Va. by a group of armed suspects who robbed them. One victim was shot, while the other was pushed to the ground. The suspects also stole a cell phone from the victims and fled in a dark SUV.
The police obtained warrants for Artis and the other suspects, including Daquan Tinker, Javontae Smallwood, and Tavon Vines. Tinker was also convicted on multiple charges and received a 98-year sentence with 45 years suspended. The outcome of Vines’ case is unclear, and there is no information regarding the arrest of Smallwood.
Casino Worker Sentenced for Theft at Iowa’s Diamond Jo Casino
A former employee, Krysten Davis, of Diamond Jo Casino in Iowa, was given two years’ probation for her involvement in a theft plot. Davis improperly placed credits on casino club card accounts and printed new cards with new pin numbers which she then gave to her friends. This resulted in a loss of over $1,500 for the casino and affected more than two dozen accounts.
To complete the probationary period successfully, Davis must adhere to the terms set by the Iowa District Court of Dubuque County. Failure to comply could lead to a two-year prison sentence and a $855 fine. Davis worked as a player’s club customer service representative at the casino between January 10 and February 3.
