The title for “Most Casinos Visited in 24 Hours” is highly likely to be claimed today in Las Vegas.
Joel Strasser and Garrett Smith aimed to visit at least 75 casinos within a 24-hour window, a feat that their friends, who know them from their runner-up finish on Season 35 of “The Amazing Race,” believed they would achieve.
“We will definitely break the record — it’s just a matter of how much,” Strasser stated Thursday during their marathon effort.
Casino.org selected Strasser and Smith for this ambitious record attempt for visiting and gambling at the most casinos in a single day.
Their extraordinary challenge commenced on Thursday, September 25, at 3 PM local time in Southern Nevada. To count as a casino visit, they must place a bet on a table game or electronic table game, as slot machines and other forms of gambling do not qualify.
These Guys Are Extraordinary
The Guinness guidelines prohibit taxis, rideshares, self-driving vehicles, and hired cars; however, they are allowed to use scheduled public transport like buses and trains, though Strasser and Smith are opting for their e-bikes.
With more than eight hours remaining, the likelihood of Strasser and Smith achieving the Guinness World Record for Most Casinos Visited in 24 Hours is as certain as a sunrise. In their first 15 hours, they have traveled over 129 miles on foot and electric bicycles, having already visited 70 casinos by 6 AM Friday.
Strasser and Smith meticulously planned this record attempt for over a year and a half. The Idaho natives arrived in Las Vegas last week and mentioned that they were still refining their planning map.
“This record is exceptionally logistically challenging. Navigating all of Guinness’ rules and requirements is incredibly tough,” Strasser remarked.
“That’s likely why this record has endured for almost a decade,” he added.
“Ordinary people wouldn’t do this,” Garrett added. “We’re not exactly ordinary.”
Prior to the attempt, Casino.org assigned odds of 7/1 for Joel and Garrett breaking the record, which in hindsight was a tempting wager.
Record Breaking on the Horizon
Casino.org has been supporting Strasser and Smith during their journey across Southern Nevada, inching them closer to a record-breaking achievement. Their spirits are high as they recall their “Amazing Race” experience, where staying awake for 24 hours was part of the challenge.
The Guinness World Records does not provide compensation to record holders, but Casino.org does reward them. Aside from covering all expenses for their trip and bets, they’ll also receive $3,000 in cash once they complete their visit to 75 casinos later today.
