- Exciting lightweight title unification bout featuring Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje announced
- Gaethje claimed the interim lightweight title with a remarkable victory over Paddy Pimblett at UFC 324 in January
- Special celebration event at the White House lawn marking America’s 250th anniversary
The UFC officially confirmed an exhilarating lightweight title unification clash between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje during UFC 326 in Las Vegas. This showdown will headline a unique event named UFC Freedom 250 on June 14, taking place on the White House grounds.

Interim Heavyweight Showdown
On the same night, Alex Pereira will face Cyril Gane for the interim heavyweight championship, as Tom Aspinall is sidelined with a serious eye injury. The matchup card will also feature Sean O’Malley taking on Aiemann Zahabi, Michael Chandler squaring off against Mauricio Ruffy, Bo Nickal battling Kyle Daukaus, and Diego Lopes meeting Steve Garcia.
However, Conor McGregor will not be participating.
We previously discussed the potential of a Topuria versus Gaethje bout.
Gaethje captured the interim title with a memorable victory over Paddy Pimblett at UFC 324 in January, which turned out to be the highest betting event in UFC history, surpassing UFC 312, according to Drew O’Dell, a representative from BetMGM.
McGregor’s Absence
Lightweight champion Ilia Topuria announced he would be taking a hiatus from UFC late in 2025 to focus on personal issues, which involved a marital separation and allegations of extortion against him.
Justin Gaethje generated substantial betting interest at UFC 324, and I anticipate that if he meets Ilia Topuria on the South Lawn, the betting action for this event will exceed the last. The rise in UFC betting continues, and hosting an event at the White House on Flag Day will further amplify this trend,” remarked Ethan Useloff, Sports Trader at Fanatics Sportsbook.
Octagon on the White House Grounds
Visual designs have depicted the Octagon set against the White House lawn, complete with seating for 5,000 spectators. There’s also an area for viewing in a park, with large screens accommodating up to 85,000 individuals, featuring a stage, live music, and grassy spaces for fans to enjoy the fights.
Ari Emanuel, CEO and Executive Chairman of TKO Group, mentioned on “The Pat McAfee Show” in February that the card is expected to feature six or seven fights, which is fewer than typical events.
Betting Odds
Bookmakers quickly released opening betting lines. On DraftKings, Topuria is a solid favorite at -455, while Gaethje stands at +350.
