  • Trump’s upcoming prediction market, Truth Predict, includes lighthearted takes on the presidential race
  • Constitutionally, Trump is ineligible to seek the presidency again

Donald Trump enjoys toying with the idea of running in the 2028 presidential election, despite being constitutionally prevented from doing so. This week, he broached the subject once again during his address at the US Coast Guard Academy’s Commencement.

At Cadet Memorial Field in Connecticut, Trump mentioned the possibility of remaining in the presidential scene long past 2028. While discussing the delivery schedule for 11 icebreaker ships, he told the graduating class, “We’re making, right now, currently under construction, we have 11.”

“I asked, ‘When’s the first one coming?’ They replied, ‘In ’28.’ I remarked, ‘I’ll be here in ’28. Maybe I’ll be here in ’32 as well. Who knows? Maybe I will,’” Trump stated.

This isn’t the first instance of Trump hinting at another presidential run. He mentioned in March 2025 that “there are methods that could allow it,” although this would necessitate a constitutional amendment.

An article by Newsweek elaborates on the multiple times Trump has expressed intentions of winning the 2028 election.

Trump’s 2028 Jests

The Trump Store is now offering a TRUMP 2028 red hat, with claims the hat will “rewrite the rules.”

Trump’s playful jibes regarding 2028 extend beyond just merchandise.

The Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), operated by the Trump family, is anticipated to soon dive into the prediction market sector.

The placeholder for TruthPredict.ai hints that Truth Predict will heavily engage in politics, asking questions like whether Trump will win the presidential election on November 7, 2028. The “Trump wins 2028 election” contract currently shows hypothetical traders assigning Trump a 60% implied chance of victory, odds which are likely exaggerated and may stir reactions from Trump’s critics.

On Kalshi, current odds place Trump’s chances of winning the 2028 election at 3.9%. State Secretary Marco Rubio leads the odds at 18%, followed by VP JD Vance at 17%, and California Governor Gavin Newsom at 15%.

Since its launch last fall, the Truth Predict landing page has showcased the 2028 election market. However, it is not yet operational, with the placeholder only serving “informational and entertainment purposes” at this time.

Truth Predict plans to collaborate with Crypto.com’s OG.com, which possesses several derivatives licenses from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

Despite Trump mentioning that “the world has turned into a casino” due to the rise of prediction markets—something he claims to disfavor “conceptually”—his family business is making strides in this contentious trading domain.

“The entire world has, unfortunately, transformed into a sort of casino. Just look around, these betting trends are everywhere. Personally, I was never much in favor of it,” Trump remarked in response to inquiries about potential insider trading on a prediction market, while in the Oval Office.

Truth Predict is set to be integrated into the Truth Social platform, which is Trump’s primary social media outlet.
