- President Donald Trump implies Dr. Miriam Adelson prioritizes Israel over the United States
- Adelson is recognized for her significant influence over Trump, having been his major campaign supporter last year
Dr. Miriam Adelson aspires to be celebrated for her philanthropy, advocating for pro-Jewish initiatives and bolstering Israel — rather than merely being known as the principal shareholder of the globe’s largest casino enterprise. In his Monday address to the Knesset, Israel’s legislative body, President Donald Trump acknowledged the casino mogul for her unwavering commitment to the Israeli and Jewish communities.

Celebrating a successful ceasefire negotiation between Israel and Hamas, Trump spoke to the Israeli parliament. Adelson had reportedly been urging Trump to take action in the violent conflict that erupted in October 2023 and traveled to Jerusalem to commemorate this potential resolution.
Trump, who received substantial funding from Adelson and her late husband, Sheldon Adelson — the founder, chairman, and CEO of Las Vegas Sands who passed in January 2021 — lauded the 80-year-old for her ongoing backing.
In return for millions in campaign financing, Trump, as per the Adelsons’ request in 2018, shifted the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, with the Adelsons present for the embassy’s inauguration.
That same year, Trump awarded Dr. Adelson the Presidential Medal of Freedom, acknowledging her philanthropic efforts in supporting Jewish education, Holocaust remembrance, Israeli defense organizations, and rehabilitation programs.
Trump Acknowledges Adelson’s Influence and Pro-Israel Bias
On Monday, Trump again underscored the significant influence that Adelson and her late husband had over US policies regarding Israel.
“For decades, every president said they would do it. The difference is that I followed through by officially recognizing Israel’s capital and relocating the American Embassy to Jerusalem. Right, Miriam? Look at Miriam over there. Stand up, Miriam. Show yourself,” Trump remarked.
“Miriam and Sheldon used to visit my office frequently; I think they had more appointments at the White House than anyone else. Sheldon was a very assertive man, and I had great respect for him. He would call and ask if he could swing by. I’d say, ‘Sheldon, I’m the President of the United States; that doesn’t really work like that,’” Trump shared.
“They have contributed so much. Miriam, please stand. She truly loves this country. She and her late husband were exceptional, and we miss him dearly,” Trump added, before making some contentious remarks.
“I don’t want to get her in trouble, but I once asked her, ‘Miriam, your love for Israel is clear. Which do you love more, the United States or Israel?’ She wouldn’t answer. That might just mean Israel,” Trump commented.
“We truly love you. Thank you, dear, for being present. She is a remarkable individual,” Trump concluded, expressing appreciation for Adelson.
Response to Controversial Remarks
In statements to Casino.org, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) urged all political figures, including Trump, to sever connections with the GOP mega-donor.
“We commend President Trump for candidly revealing the extent of Miriam Adelson’s influence on our government and her unwillingness to prioritize the United States over Israel. We urge Trump and all American political leaders to disassociate from Adelson and anyone else who supports genocide and places the interests of a foreign nation above our own,” the CAIR statement asserted.
CAIR’s mission focuses on promoting a better understanding of Islam and empowering American Muslim communities.
