Two more Strip casino resorts join the list of establishments offering complimentary parking in Las Vegas.

Free self-parking on the Las Vegas Strip will soon become more scarce as two casino resorts in central locations announced their plans this week to discontinue offering complimentary parking.

When the Venetian and Palazzo casino resorts were opened by Sheldon Adelson and his Las Vegas Sands, they made a commitment to always provide free parking. However, other major competitors such as MGM Resorts and Caesars Entertainment began charging for self-parking in 2016.

After Adelson’s passing in January 2021, his successor, Rob Goldstein, made the surprising decision to sell the company’s two Strip casino resorts.

Sands sold the Venetian and Palazzo, along with Venetian Expo, for $6.25 billion to Vici Properties and Apollo Global Management. Vici bought the facilities for $4 billion and Apollo acquired the operating rights and staff for $2.25 billion.

Apollo has retained the same operations and workforce, but has now announced that parking fees will be implemented at the Strip properties in the future.

Summer Blues

The Venetian and Palazzo, collectively known as The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, have announced on their website that free self-parking will no longer be available for many guests starting in the summer.

Currently, self-parking is provided to all guests of The Venetian and The Palazzo as a courtesy. But later this summer, paid self-parking will be in effect at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas for both hotel guests and visitors.

However, complimentary self-parking will still be available for Grazie Rewards members at the Premier tier and above, and Elite and above members will continue to receive both free self-parking and valet services.

The cost of valet parking is currently $35 per day. The Venetian Resort has not yet announced the rates for self-parking in the summer or a specific date for when the charges will be implemented.

The Grazie Rewards program rewards players with tier points based on their average bet, duration of play, and whether they play slots or table games. Hotel guests earn three tier points for every $1 spent on their nightly rooms, resort fees, and upgrades. One tier point is awarded for every dollar spent on dining, entertainment, spa services, and retail purchases.

Grazie points reset every March. To reach the Premier level, members must accumulate 1,000 tier points. However, to receive free valet, members must accrue at least 10,000 points.

Free Parking Becoming a Rarity

For decades, complimentary self-parking and valet were common on the Strip. However, since 2016, free valet is no longer available, and free self-parking is becoming increasingly rare. When the Venetian discontinues free self-parking, the remaining casinos offering complimentary parking will be Wynn and Encore, Treasure Island, Sahara, Circus Circus, and Tropicana.

Free self-parking is still available at the Fashion Show Mall, Shoppes at Mandalay Palace, and Aria’s Shops at Crystal.
