A 33-foot yacht that requires a crane to be lowered into the Bellagio lake is hard to overlook. MGM Resorts is embracing the spectacle of it all and is hosting a lowering ceremony at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, October 3.

However, if you’re planning to catch the event from the Strip, be prepared for partial visibility due to the grandstands already set up for the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix scheduled for November 20-22.

The luxurious yacht, priced between $3-$4 million, will be permanently stationed in front of Carbone Riviera, the new Italian restaurant debuting this fall in the location previously occupied by Picasso. It will provide tours around the lake while the fountains are active.

Before the yacht descends, it’s wise to temper your expectations. MGM has yet to unveil any pictures or designs of the vessel, but social media has showcased A.I.-generated images of oversized dining yachts filled with patrons.

Nevertheless, MGM confirmed that this yacht is one of only 18 crafted in the Anniversario Collection by the Italian yacht manufacturer Riva. The reality is that these 33-foot vessels accommodate a maximum of five guests—without any dining tables on board (MGM made no promises of aboard meals).

If you’re inquiring about the price to join the select few aboard this yacht looping around the Bellagio fountains, it’s safe to say it’s beyond your budget.

In a recent announcement by Yelp, the top coffee shop in the U.S. based on quality and atmosphere is none other than Yaw Farm Coffee Roasters, located at 7034 W. Charleston Blvd. in Las Vegas. Remarkably, it has held this prestigious position for three consecutive years, boasting a remarkable 96% five-star review rating.

Dining Updates

After a decade of service, Bar Code Burgers in Downtown has closed, demonstrating that even critical acclaim cannot shield a restaurant from the harsh realities of business. Although a reason for the closure was not provided, Bar Code had earned multiple awards for Best Burger in Las Vegas Weekly’s Best of Vegas Awards and was recognized in the Top 100 Restaurants in Las Vegas by the Las Vegas Review-Journal this year.

Meanwhile, Leoncito at Red Rock Resort closed its operations on September 28. Interestingly, it will not be replaced by a new eatery but rather by an old favorite. Owner Station Casinos is reintroducing Hearthstone Kitchen & Cellar, which had been closed since April 2023 after nearly a decade of service.

Morimoto at MGM Grand is scheduled for a temporary closure starting October 1 “for an exciting redesign and menu update aimed at enhancing the guest experience,” as stated in an MGM press release. This sushi destination, founded by “Iron Chef” star Masaharu Morimoto in 2016, is set to reopen in late November.

In culinary news related to Vegas, Wynn Resorts is planning to take the Las Vegas celebrity hotspot Delilah to Al Marjan Island, within its forthcoming $5.1 billion resort in the UAE. This venture is anticipated to debut in Spring 2027, featuring 22 restaurants and lounges, including a yet-to-be-named steakhouse by Alain Ducasse.

Health Violations

Los Tacos, situated at 1710 E. Charleston Blvd., was shut down on September 30 after a routine evaluation by the Southern Nevada Health District. The establishment received eight demerits due to infractions, including improper food storage temperatures and unapproved or poorly maintained equipment.
