<p>Robert James "R.J." Cipriani is making headlines again, this time taking on Hollywood rather than the casinos of Las Vegas. The well-known high-stakes gambler and self-identified fixer, recognized in the gaming world for his two active lawsuits against Resorts World, has officially filed a $150 million lawsuit for breach of contract and fraud against Jeff Shell, the president of Paramount Skydance.</p>

<p>The detailed 67-page lawsuit, submitted on March 9, 2026, in Los Angeles County Superior Court, states that Cipriani dedicated 18 months to providing crisis communication and reputation management services for Shell without receiving any payment. In return, Shell is alleged to have promised to facilitate the production of an English-version of <em>Serenata De Las Estrellas (Star Serenade)</em>, a Spanish-language music reality show on Roku, while also securing co-executive producer credits for Cipriani and his spouse.</p>
<p>According to the lawsuit, Shell later denied the existence of this agreement, claiming it never occurred.</p>
<p>“This lawsuit stems from a classic form of fraud: a powerful individual exploited opportunities offered by a less influential individual, promising compensation, misleading him when he inquired, and ultimately refusing any payment,” states Cipriani’s claim.</p>

<p>The complaint alleges that Cipriani provided Shell with tips about impending negative press, crafted media strategies, and influenced favorable media coverage for Shell and Paramount. Furthermore, it claims that Shell revealed sensitive, non-public data regarding Paramount’s $7.7 billion media rights agreement with UFC and the company’s negotiations to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery, a deal estimated at approximately $110 to $111 billion.</p>
<p>Cipriani reports that he has submitted these disclosures to the SEC, which is currently investigating the claims.</p>
<p>Shell, who was reportedly removed from his role as NBCUniversal CEO in 2023 due to an inappropriate relationship with a CNBC correspondent, made a return to Hollywood following billionaire David Ellison’s acquisition of Paramount Global through Skydance in 2025.</p>
<p>Both Shell and his spouse, Laura Shell, are listed as defendants in the lawsuit, while Paramount has not been included and has refrained from commenting. Shell’s attorney, Patricia Glaser, previously labeled Cipriani’s allegations as “filled with evident factual and legal inaccuracies” and has vowed to mount a robust defense.</p>
<h2>Whistleblower at Resorts World</h2>
<p>Cipriani is perhaps more widely recognized in the gaming sector—operating under the online moniker “Robin Hood 702”—for co-filing a RICO lawsuit against Resorts World Las Vegas and its parent company, Genting Berhad, in December 2025 with businessman James Russell, alleging that the casino facilitated money laundering by permitting known criminals to gamble.</p>
<p>This lawsuit followed a legal victory in November 2025, in which the Ninth Circuit overturned a prior dismissal of Cipriani’s claims concerning negligence and innkeeper liability against Resorts World.</p>
<p>Reports indicate that both cases are still active and ongoing.</p>
