“No Kids After 10PM?” highlighted the “Las Vegas Tips” Facebook page on February 1, 2026. “New Las Vegas Law Provokes Discussion … What are your thoughts?”

We intended to debunk another Las Vegas myth this morning, but we quickly shifted focus after encountering this post last night. Kudos to the more than 1,000 commenters who enthusiastically shared their opinions, such as:
- “It’s about time — kids should not be present at all.”
- “Children do not belong in places with drinking, nudity, or gambling.”
- “Let’s see how effective they are at enforcing this rule.”
What Effort?

It’s important to note that minors have had restrictions on the Strip after hours since 1948, during Harry S. Truman’s presidency, when gas was only $0.26 a gallon.
However, it is unacceptable to not even perform a simple search or consult AI about Las Vegas’s “new curfew” before passionately composing comments.
We also struggle to forgive those who masquerade as credible news outlets while spreading misinformation just to increase their clicks.
And “asshats” wasn’t our initial word choice.
The start times for the Strip curfew have evolved, but Las Vegas Tips’ post failed to correctly state the current time.
Clarifying the Facts
On the Strip, the curfew has been set at 9 PM during weekends, holidays, and summer breaks since 2013, when it was changed from midnight. (LVMC 10.54.015). On school nights, the curfew is still 10 PM.
Breaking this ordinance can lead to citations, fines of up to $300, and/or temporary detention until a parent arrives.
None of this ordinance is new. And it doesn’t entirely prohibit children from being on the Strip—this rule applies only to unaccompanied minors. If anyone under 18 is with a parent or guardian, the curfew does not apply. The same rule holds if they are legally employed in the vicinity—like at a restaurant, theater, or retail store.
These exemptions have been part of the law for years and haven’t changed.
The only thing new here is the spread of misinformation.
