  • Spiegelworld’s adults-only variety show, The Hook, will permanently conclude its performances at Caesars Atlantic City on September 6, 2026, following a successful three-year run with over 1,000 shows.
  • This high-cost residency involved a $40 million renovation of a 1929 theater but faced challenges due to Atlantic City’s seasonal tourism fluctuations.
  • The closure is part of a broader trend for Spiegelworld, which has also seen the recent cancellation of OPM and DiscoShow in Las Vegas and setbacks regarding their plans for a New Orleans location.

After three vibrant years along the Boardwalk and performing over 1,000 shows, The Hook at Caesars Atlantic City will take its final curtain call on September 6, 2026. Launched in June 2023, this adults-only variety show from Spiegelworld, a competitor to Cirque du Soleil, was intended to be a key element of Caesars’ $430 million redevelopment initiative aimed at revitalizing the historical casino destination.

As reported by The Las Vegas Review-Journal, cast members were informed of the show’s closure via an internal email from Ross Mollison, the founder of Spiegelworld, right after Sunday night’s performance.

Caesars invested approximately $40 million to transform the Warner Theatre, a historical landmark from 1929, into a dynamic cabaret and variety venue reminiscent of Spiegelworld’s iconic Las Vegas productions like Absinthe and the Atomic Saloon Show.

“Launching an original resident show at Caesars Atlantic City was an ambitious goal,” stated Mollison in his email. “This show has continuously evolved, showcasing many outstanding performers. It’s a remarkable accomplishment for us to have entertained audiences for an unprecedented four seasons along the Boardwalk.”

Marketed as a permanent fixture on the Boardwalk, The Hook offered a high-octane mix of comedy, acrobatics, and eclectic variety acts, promising a Las Vegas-style theatrical experience on the East Coast. The show operated year-round, featuring performances during the week and multiple shows on weekends.

Facing Challenges

However, the show struggled to meet box office expectations. Operating a high-overhead residency outside of Las Vegas proved to be a significant challenge, particularly when confronting the longstanding issue of seasonality that has impacted all entertainment in Atlantic City since the first casino’s inception in 1978.

Winter months saw a sharp decline in tourism.

Spiegelworld has already downsized at other venues, closing OPM at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in December 2023 and DiscoShow at the LINQ in January 2026 after considerable investments.

Additionally, plans for a new resident show and theater in Caesars New Orleans have faced significant delays, originally intended to open in 2024.

Currently, Caesars has not revealed what will replace the prominent vacancy at the Warner Theatre, and there is no public timeline regarding future programming. Individuals who have purchased tickets for performances post-September 6 are advised to contact the Caesars box office or their original point of sale for information on refunds or exchanges.
