There has been an update on a Virginia lawmaker supportive of allowing residents in Fairfax County to consider a commercial casino development. Read on for more details.
An article in Patch, a hyperlocal news media platform, suggests there are long-standing ties between Del. Wren Williams and the family that owns Comstock Companies, who have expressed interest in building a casino resort in Fairfax.
Discovering Ties
Patch reports that the CEO of Comstock Companies, Chris Clemente, contributed $12,500 to Williams’ 2023 campaign. Furthermore, it was revealed that Nick Clemente, son of Chris Clemente and a lobbyist working on behalf of the North Virginia Chamber, also contributed towards Williams’ campaign.
The disclosure of these financial ties has raised questions, especially considering that the Williams also supported Nick Clemente during his 2021 campaign for state office.
About Comstock Companies
Comstock Companies is considered as a leading real estate developer in the Dulles Corridor and has several projects under management and development. Its retail projects include Reston Station, Loudoun Station, Rockville Station, and The Hartford at Clarendon Station.
Comstock’s extensive involvement in the region certainly raises questions and will continue to garner attention as the situation unfolds.
