The White House will host crypto and prediction market executives on Wednesday, August 19, according to sources familiar with the event.
The gathering might also include traditional finance executives, although the final guest list is still undecided, as reported by Politico. President Donald Trump may also make an appearance at the meeting, although his attendance has not been officially confirmed.
Crypto and prediction markets have become key focus areas in Washington, where regulators appointed by Trump have taken steps to adopt a more innovation-friendly approach to both industries.
The meeting is scheduled one day before the Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s inaugural meeting of its Innovation Advisory Committee on Thursday, August 20. The panel comprises executives from leading cryptocurrency, prediction market, gambling, and traditional finance companies and will discuss the regulation of crypto assets, artificial intelligence, and prediction markets.
The White House meeting coincides with the crypto industry’s push for the passage of the Clarity Act, a comprehensive digital asset market structure bill currently awaiting approval in the Senate.
The Senate adjourned for its August recess without taking action on the legislation, with lawmakers expected to resume deliberations upon returning to Capitol Hill in September.
