The estate of Jeff Paul Kreiner, of Port St. Lucie, FL, who passed away on May 30 at the age of 66, claims that the off-Strip casino resort was negligent in providing suitable accommodations at the property. The lawsuit alleges that Tuscany Suites failed to perform a requested welfare check on Kreiner, who had reportedly informed resort staff about his diabetes and mobility issues.

Kreiner had traveled to Las Vegas for business. The lawsuit filed by his widow Patricia and several family members states that Kreiner mentioned to hotel employees that he had fallen on the day of his check-in and needed wheelchair assistance, which was provided. However, the complaint argues that the resort did not conduct a welfare check, as requested later by a colleague.

Kreiner had a long career in television production, working at ABC, CBS, and NBC, before retiring in 2012 as the senior vice president of marketing at CBS.

After retirement, he started a podcast called “LMAO” and occasionally contributed to media projects, with his final project requiring travel to Southern Nevada.

Health Concerns Disclosed

The lawsuit by the Kreiner estate argues that Tuscany Suites should have taken more precautions to ensure guest safety. A day after checking in on May 29, Kreiner was found unresponsive by a housekeeper. Emergency responders arrived shortly after and pronounced him deceased.

The Clark County lawsuit alleges that casino staff were aware of Kreiner’s deteriorating condition but failed to ensure his safety. The lawsuit specifically states that the welfare check was “disregarded and not acted upon,” leaving Kreiner in a vulnerable state with medical issues.

The lawsuit seeks $50K in damages for the family’s emotional distress, loss of companionship, support services, and legal and funeral expenses. Tuscany Suites & Casino has not yet responded to the lawsuit, nor has the resort made any public statements about the case.

Tuscany Suites & Casino is situated east of the Strip along Flamingo Rd. behind the Horseshoe. Established in 2001, the casino area covers 60K square feet and features over 600 slot machines, twelve table games, and a Circa Sports sportsbook.

The all-suite hotel offers more than 700 guest rooms and is owned by CMH Real Estate Investments, an LLC based in Magnolia, TX.

Online Fundraising

While it may seem unlikely that Tuscany will be held liable for Kreiner’s passing, his estate has raised thousands of dollars through an online fundraiser on GoFundMe.

Over $18K has been collected for the “Join Jeff Kreiner’s Crew” fundraiser. However, the fundraiser, organized by George Schweitzer on behalf of Patricia Kreiner, aims to raise $100K.
