A heartwarming scene in “Will & Harper” unfolds at SW Steakhouse inside Wynn Las Vegas. Former “Saturday Night Live” star Will Ferrell and his best friend, Harper Steele, visit while embarking on a road trip across the US in the new Netflix documentary.
Steele and Ferrell first met when they both started at “Saturday Night Live” the same week in 1995, with Steele becoming the show’s head writer.
The road trip becomes the focus of the documentary as Ferrell learns about Steele’s transgender identity, and they set out to explore the US and see how people react to meeting a transgender person.
At their dinner at SW Steakhouse, Ferrell wears a silly disguise purchased earlier that day to avoid special treatment and divert attention from Steele, who is still adjusting to being in public as a transgender individual.
During the meal, Steele expresses gratitude to Ferrell for the support and understanding, highlighting the positive impact of the road trip on their relationship.
“Will & Harper,” featuring “SNL” alumni Wille Forte, Molly Shannon, and Kristen Wiig, is now available for streaming on Netflix.
