  • The largest U.S. store of the French luxury brand is situated in a Las Vegas casino hotel.
  • This addition enhances the luxurious retail offerings of Fontainebleau.

Luxury fashion aficionados might instinctively believe that Saint Laurent, commonly referred to as YSL, would select upscale locations such as Bal Harbor in Miami, New York City, or Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, California for its largest U.S. outlet.

While these assumptions are logical, the notable truth is that the largest YSL store in the United States is actually located at Fontainebleau Las Vegas. Designed by Anthony Vaccarello, this store debuted earlier this year as one of four YSL locations within Las Vegas. Notably, Fontainebleau is proud to host this YSL outlet, which surpasses the sizes of the brand’s stores at Caesars Palace and Wynn Las Vegas.

“The YSL store at Fontainebleau features a blend of concrete and Cipolino marble flooring, custom carpets, and walls made of a mix including rough cast render, corduroy concrete, marble, black intumescent paint, mirrors, and wood,” a statement from the resort’s operator revealed.

Fontainebleau Las Vegas is a collaborative venture between the Koch brothers and Florida real estate developer Jeffrey Soffer, and opened its doors in December 2023 with an impressive budget of $3.7 billion. The YSL store showcases collections for both men and women.

Fontainebleau’s Diverse Retail Offerings

Prior to its opening, Fontainebleau Las Vegas was anticipated to boast a variety of luxury retailers, and it has met those expectations.

Alongside the prominent YSL store, the retail lineup at this casino hotel includes prestigious brands such as Boucheron, Bottega Veneta, Cartier, Graff, Gucci, Missoni, Ora, and Zimmermann, among others. This high-end retail collection is a significant draw for affluent customers that gaming operators desire. The Fontainebleau Retail Collection aims to host over 30 stores, making it one of the most extravagant shopping selections on the Strip.

Retail establishments not only enhance the experience but also serve as beneficial revenue channels for resorts like Fontainebleau. While gaming companies do not take a cut of the retailers’ revenue or profits, these stores provide a steady rental income to the casinos for the privilege of occupying their prime locations.

The price for retail space in a Strip casino is among the highest in the nation, with estimates ranging from $1 to $5 per square foot per month. In some exceptional cases, the most coveted retail spaces on the Strip can command prices over $74 per square foot annually.
