The family of a woman who tragically passed away while playing slots at Wynn Las Vegas is suing the resort for negligence. Billie Sakkab, 74, collapsed and died during the Wynn’s Super Bowl viewing party last year. Her husband, Nabil Y. Sakkab Sr., along with three other family members, filed the lawsuit, which was first reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The suit accuses Wynn Las Vegas of a series of negligent actions, including failing to provide timely emergency medical attention, resulting in the tragic death of Sakkab. The family is seeking special and punitive damages, interest, and attorney fees.

According to the lawsuit, Wynn employees neglected to assess the need for emergency medical attention, despite an increase in guests present at the event. As a result, Sakkab did not receive the assistance required in a timely manner.

Emergency medical services were only called after a substantial delay, and as a result, Sakkab was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

An obituary published in February 2022 described Billie Sakkab as a “deeply devoted wife and mother” of two children, and grandmother of three, who met her husband of 51 years while they both attended Texas Christian University.

“She was the person that everyone in her family came to for help and support,” the obit said. “Billie always was guided by the highest moral code.”
