An armed individual stole an unspecified amount of money from a person shortly after they left Bally’s Casino Chicago in the early hours of Wednesday.
The victim, aged 44, was getting into their parked vehicle on Chicago’s East Ohio Street when, around 2:30 a.m., the perpetrator drove up behind them, exited the car, and brandished a gun. The robber demanded money from the victim.
The victim handed over cash to the robber. The perpetrator then got back into their car and fled the scene. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported.
The casino issued a statement confirming the incident and stated that they are cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation.
Local law enforcement is likely reviewing surveillance footage from the casino.
Casino Players Avoid Jail Time
Two individuals at Live! Casino Pittsburgh recently received probation after being caught playing with marked cards.
Bahri Sahpolat, 47, from California, and Serdar Ozmen, 44, from Maryland, used marked cards while playing Mississippi stud poker at the casino last month, as reported by TribLive.
The players managed to win over $12,000 during the games, with their cheating being captured on casino surveillance cameras.
Upon their arrest, the two were charged with various offenses, including theft, receiving stolen property, criminal trespassing, and using a cheating device. $12,000 in cash was seized from them during their arrests.
The trespassing charge was later dropped, and they agreed to a plea deal that granted them accelerated rehabilitative disposition, a form of probation that, if completed successfully, would clear the charges from their records.
They were also ordered by the court to pay the casino $1,047 each and banned from returning to the property.
The defendants were released from county jail following the resolution of the case.
A third individual involved in the cheating scheme was not charged.
“Through advanced security measures, Live Casino officials were able to identify the illegal activities of the individuals,” said casino spokesperson Tom Meinert to TribLive.
“We immediately contacted the Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board and have been collaborating with them throughout the investigation.”
Adult Allegedly Attempted to Sneak Minors into Casino
Christal Mutua, 39, from Wilkes-Barre, Pa., allegedly devised a plan to sneak her underage child and another teenager onto the casino floor at Mohegan Pennsylvania.
Keyon Kyalo Mutua, 19, and an unnamed 17-year-old girl tried to enter the gaming floor around 5 a.m. on Wednesday, as reported by CitizensVoice.com. They used fake IDs at the entrance, according to police.
Security personnel stopped the two individuals at the entrance. Mutua fled the scene, while the girl walked to a parking lot, authorities stated.
The Pennsylvania Bureau of Gaming Enforcement indicated that Mutua’s mother was involved in the plan and is expected to face charges.
The minimum age to enter the casino is 21.
