The businesses in Brevard County were closed down after court-ordered searches were conducted.

Specific details about the businesses that were shut down and the individuals who were arrested have not been disclosed to the public.

These searches were carried out following an investigation by Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey’s office and the Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC).

We appreciate the collaboration with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and their dedication to investigating and shutting down these illegal casinos that prey on the community,” said Lou Trombetta, the executive director of the FGCC, in a recent statement.

“Unfortunately, these unlicensed gambling establishments not only take money from their patrons, but they also lack the player protections and community benefits provided by regulated facilities.”

The FGCC described the seized amount of money as “significant,” but stated that it does not reflect the full extent of the funds that support these illicit gambling activities.

Agents from the state’s Division of Gaming Enforcement will continue to collaborate with local law enforcement agencies across Florida to combat illegal gambling.

Second Suspect Arrested For Louisiana Casino Theft

A second individual has been charged with stealing $68K from a roulette machine at Boomtown Casino & Hotel New Orleans.

Michel Francklin, aged 57, from Miami, was extradited to Louisiana on September 24 and faces charges of altering gaming equipment and theft, according to the New Orleans Advocate.

According to reports, Francklin and another person tampered with a video roulette machine.

Previously, Michael Shea, 33, from Coral Springs, Florida, pleaded guilty to altering the machine while at the casino in August 2022.

Shea was arrested on February 22 and later admitted to altering gaming equipment and theft exceeding $25,000 in value, as reported.

Surveillance footage at the gaming property in Harvey, Louisiana, captured the pair in action, after which casino security alerted local police, who initiated an investigation.

Police investigations revealed that the pair were at the casino for three days, during which they cashed multiple tickets totaling significant amounts.
