During an interview with CNN’s Pamela Brown, Woods recounted the harrowing events from that Tuesday in his Pacific Palisades neighborhood. Witnessing the raging fires engulfing neighboring homes, he described the scene as an “inferno” with every house ablaze.

Despite having evacuated, Woods couldn’t stop worrying about his elderly dementia-stricken neighbor living next door.

Woods’ Heroic Actions

Woods quickly contacted the son of the 94-year-old man, who informed him that his father was alone at home with a new caregiver and no contact number was available. Unable to return to check on the neighbor, Woods alerted 911 for a safety check.

Realizing the urgency of the situation, Woods also reached out to another neighbor who was still in the vicinity. This neighbor went to the elderly man’s house and found it deserted, raising Woods’ concern.

“Just go behind the pantry,” Woods directed. “There’s a little room where he likes to sit during the day because it overlooks a garden.”

Following Woods’ guidance, the neighbor located the elderly man and rescued him just before the house was consumed by flames. Without Woods’ intervention, the man may not have survived.

Thankful for his neighbor’s safety, Woods remarked, “God was on his side.”

Loss of Home

In an emotional recollection to CNN, Woods revealed how he and his wife had spent years renovating their dream home in Pacific Palisades, only to see it destroyed in a day. Describing the property as a piece of paradise, Woods lamented its loss.

“One day you’re swimming in the pool. And the next day, it’s all gone,” he somberly expressed.

Having experienced a house fire in his childhood, Woods emphasized the importance of heeding evacuation warnings and acknowledged the brave efforts of firefighters and emergency responders. He also highlighted the support from neighbors and family during challenging times.

Furthermore, Woods’ wife was touched when their eight-year-old niece offered her piggy bank to aid in their rebuilding efforts.

Background in Poker and Gambling

Aside from acting, Woods is a familiar face at poker tournaments in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, having participated in the World Series of Poker. Notably, he appeared in the movie “Casino,” portraying the character Lester Diamond.
