The Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC) has officially named Alana Zimmer as its new Executive Director, effective immediately, as announced by the agency on Thursday.
Zimmer will lead the commission’s initiatives to uphold and safeguard the integrity of gaming operations within the state, in accordance with Section 16.712 of the Florida Statutes.
“Alana has demonstrated exceptional leadership throughout her career, and I am confident she will diligently work to eradicate illegal gambling while supporting the citizens and businesses of Florida,” stated Julie Imanuel Brown, Vice Chair of FGCC. “We are thrilled to welcome Alana back to Florida, particularly to Tallahassee, where she attended Florida State University. We are eager to see how her diverse skills will benefit FGCC.”
“I am privileged to be appointed as the Executive Director of the Florida Gaming Control Commission,” said Alana Zimmer. “My background in modernizing the Kansas Lottery and promoting responsible gaming initiatives will translate effectively to my new role as FGCC Executive Director. I am excited to collaborate closely with the Governor and Legislature to enhance and expand responsible gaming in Florida.”
Prior to her role at FGCC, Zimmer was the executive director of the Kansas City Automotive Museum, where she led a capital campaign of $30 million. She also served as a commissioner with the Kansas Lottery from 2016 to 2019.
As FGCC’s Executive Director, Zimmer will be tasked with overseeing, coordinating, and managing all activities essential to fulfill the commission’s obligations.
