The Osage Nation is planning to advance its initiative for constructing a $100 million casino and entertainment district in Lake Ozark.

The tribe is collaborating with federal authorities to designate the project location as a trust, permitting the establishment of gambling activities. This proposed development will feature a hotel, casino, dining options, and entertainment venues situated near Osage Beach Parkway and Bagnell Dam Boulevard.

Mayor David Ridgely of Lake Ozark stated that the city is partnering with the tribe to ensure local residents gain from the project. “Our objective is to ensure that the City of Lake Ozark benefits significantly. They’ve actively worked towards that with us,” he remarked, according to a report from KY3.

“They will utilize our water, sewer systems, roads, and police services. The collaboration has been very positive,” Ridgely added.

To address potential costs, the Board of Aldermen is evaluating two ordinances aimed at requiring the Osage Nation to contribute towards city services.

Ridgely noted that these agreements could potentially double the city’s general revenue fund. “Our revenue is larger, but that’s just in terms of general funds. We can then undertake appealing projects. Recently, we focused on improving roads,” he mentioned. “We are pursuing various initiatives to enhance Lake Ozark for our residents.”

Despite several challenges ahead, Ridgely expresses confidence in the prospective collaboration. “Every community the Osage Nation engages with becomes a strong partner for the future. We eagerly anticipate fostering that kind of relationship,” he stated.

Next week, the Board of Aldermen is set to vote on the ordinances being proposed. Members of the Osage Nation are anticipated to participate in the meeting.
