Bally’s Baton Rouge gets ready to shift operations to new $160M casino


Bally’s Baton Rouge is set to unveil its impressive $160 million land-based casino on December 6, after temporarily halting operations on November 14 to transfer gaming machines, kiosks, and table-game assets.

This permanent facility will host nearly 800 slot machines, alongside 20 to 25 table games, a sportsbook, a central bar, a designated smoking area, and a two-lane bowling alley.

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board approved Bally’s proposal to suspend gaming at 2 a.m. on November 14. This interruption facilitates the transfer of equipment and other installations from the temporary land-based casino to the newly constructed venue. This move comes after the state granted permission in 2023 for the previous riverboat establishment, The Belle of Baton Rouge, to transition to a land-based operation.

During the same session, the board endorsed the sports betting license for the casino, selecting DraftKings as the provider for sports wagering. The board also approved updates to responsible gaming protocols, including a modification allowing individuals on the exclusion list to seek removal after two years, reducing the previous timeframe.

The planned opening on December 6 is contingent upon final approval from the Louisiana State Police and the Gaming Control Board.

“We’re delighted to be this close to completing this stunning property, and we can’t wait for the public to experience it in early December,” stated Stacy Stagg, senior vice president and regional manager of Bally’s, during the meeting.

Last month, the company announced the rebranding of The Belle of Baton Rouge to Bally’s Baton Rouge Casino and Hotel. The new identity also introduces a variety of dining options that will debut along with the casino. The food hall, inspired by the Illinois Central Freight Station, will showcase Hearth Pizzeria, Shuck’s Oyster Bar, Vintage 1806, and Maritime Coffee.

The hotel section has been operational since March and was rebranded with Bally’s signage during the same month.
