The current NFL season has been full of unexpected narratives – from the surprising resurgence of the New England Patriots to the mediocre performance of the AFC North. Notably, the Kansas City Chiefs find themselves outside playoff contention, with the Denver Broncos also making a resurgence. However, the standout story this season is undeniably the Chicago Bears, who currently hold the top seed in the NFC.

Betting markets are rapidly recalibrating. After a significant 24-15 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles (8-4) last Friday, the Bears (9-3) showcased a powerful rushing attack, with Kyle Monangai rushing for 130 yards and a touchdown, complemented by D’Andre Swift’s 125 rushing yards and a score, totaling 281 rushing yards for their fifth consecutive win.

The upset left Eagles fans feeling frustrated, with some resorting to vandalism against Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo’s residence. This Sunday promises a thrilling matchup in Green Bay, as the first-place Bears challenge the 8-3-1 Packers, who are trailing them in the NFC North.

For those placing Super Bowl futures at BetMGM back on August 26, the Bears were listed at +4000, capturing 2.3% of tickets and 1.8% of the handle. Following Week 2 on September 10, odds shifted to -350 for the Bears to miss the playoffs, while the Patriots were at -250.

As of now, at BetMGM, the Bears are positioned at +3000 to win the Super Bowl.

Packers As Betting Favorites

For Sunday’s matchup, the Packers are favored at -310 on the money line, while the Bears sit at +245 (the spread is Packers -6.5, -113, with Bears +6.5 at -107).

At Caesars Sportsbook, the top teams capturing Super Bowl futures bets include the Bills at +1050 (11.73%), Chiefs at +1800 (9.35%), Eagles at +900 (8.5%), Ravens at +1700 (7.88%), Lions at +2500 (7.63%), and 49ers at +2200 (7.28%).

Critical Faceoff Ahead

The Bears are also attracting significant attention at theScore Bet (previously ESPN BET), ranking second for most bets and third for highest handle on Super Bowl futures within the past week.

Patriots Surge in AFC

At theScore Bet, the Patriots sit at +1000 for the Super Bowl, marked as the fifth-best odds, a significant drop from an opening of +7500. The Bears have improved to +3000 from an initial +5000.

The Patriots have already exceeded their projected preseason win total of 7.5, while the Bears surpassed their total of 8.5 with the victory over the Eagles last week.

Additionally, in the past month, at theScore Bet in terms of Super Bowl betting:

  • Patriots – 18.9% of bets, 20% of handle
  • Eagles – 4.9% of bets, 17.7% of handle
  • Bears – 10.5% of bets, 10.2% of handle

With the Packers defeating the Lions on Thanksgiving, the Bears are looking at a favorable route to the playoffs, facing the Packers twice before the season concludes.

A representative from DraftKings informed Casino.org that the Bears rank as the second most bet team to win the Super Bowl over the past week.
